Artist's Comments

This was created for the steampunk challenge over at =3D-Asuarus.

Made with 3ds max and vray, all visual elements are made within 3ds max. Around 5 passes were rendered out in max and post/compositing was done in photoshop (PSD file had over 30 layers when finished) although no new 2d elements were added.
The steam was all simple built in max particle systems. The sky was originally a matte painting created by the talented David Luong who kindly gave me permission to use it in my entry.
Hope you like it,

Basic Wireframe of this scene, note that everything is at it's lowest possible poly count for the wire to make it less cluttered:

So you got the permission on the sky? That's awesome.

I mean, of course you got the permission! Ha ha! You wouldn't not get them!

But anyway, sweet job, you know the rest, hope they like it.

Seriously awesome. How many polys is it ?
:iconbencole:
unsmoothed its pretty low, easily realtime. But for this render it was subdivided significantly.
